Complete Guide to Using BitLance

Transitioning to a Bitcoin-based professional career can seem challenging, but BitLance is designed to make the transition completely seamless. This comprehensive tutorial will guide you through registration, profile creation, finding contracts, and handling secure transactions on the platform.

1. Creating Your Account

Signing up takes less than a minute. Enter your name, email, and choose your account type:

  • Clients: Select this if you want to source, manage, and pay vetted remote freelancers.
  • Freelancers: Select this if you are a developer, designer, writer, or marketer ready to earn Satoshis.

2. Completing Your Professional Profile

Your profile is your digital CV on BitLance. Take time to build your credibility:

  • Lightning Address: Freelancers must configure their receiving Lightning address in Settings. This is where your payouts will automatically land. Double-check this address is correct.
  • Bio & Portfolio: List your core skills, outline your experience, and provide links to active GitHub repositories, Figma portfolios, or writing pieces.

3. Negotiating and Managing Contracts

Once you find a suitable match, work is formalized via a structured contract with distinct milestone steps:

Clients fund the escrow for active milestones inside the Messages chat using secure Lightning invoices. Once paid, the milestone moves to 'work in progress,' and the freelancer can safely begin tasks.

"Never begin working on a milestone until you verify that the escrow is fully funded. This ensures your time and effort are secured."

4. Delivering Work and Getting Paid

  1. Submission: When a milestone is finished, the freelancer uploads the deliverables under the Contracts dashboard.
  2. Approval: The client reviews the submission. If changes are needed, they can request a revision. If perfect, they click Approve and Pay.
  3. Settlement: The payout instantly releases from escrow directly to the freelancer's Lightning address. No further withdraw steps are necessary.
