Terms of Use

Version 1.0 · Last updated 28 October 2026

These terms explain the rules for using Bitlance, how milestone payments work, and what happens when something goes wrong. Please read them before you sign up.

1. Who you are agreeing with

  1. 1.1
Bitlance (bitlance.work) is operated by DCA Labs LLC, a limited liability company registered in Próspera ZEDE, Roatán, Honduras (“Bitlance”, “we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and DCA Labs LLC.
  2. 1.2
By creating an account, ticking the box at sign-up, or using Bitlance, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. Ticking the box counts as your electronic signature. If you do not accept them, do not use Bitlance.

2. Words we use

  1. 2.1
Client: a user who posts jobs and hires. Freelancer: a user who offers work.
  2. 2.2
Contract: the agreement between a client and a freelancer for a job, set up on Bitlance.
  3. 2.3
Milestone payment: a part of a contract that the client pays in advance and that is released to the freelancer when the client approves the work.
  4. 2.4
Lightning address: an address like name@wallet.com that can receive bitcoin over the Lightning network. It can only receive, not spend.
  5. 2.5
Platform fee: the fee Bitlance charges clients, described in section 6.

3. Your account

  1. 3.1
You must be at least 18, the age at which you can enter into contracts under the law that governs these terms.
  2. 3.2
The information you give us must be true, complete and kept up to date. One person or company per account. Accounts created automatically are not allowed.
  3. 3.3
You are responsible for everything done through your account. Keep your password safe and tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  4. 3.4
Bitlance will never ask for your password, seed phrase or wallet keys, and we do not accept wallet keys or wallet-connection strings. Anyone asking for them is not Bitlance.
  5. 3.5
We may ask for information to confirm who you are or to check a payment, for example during a dispute or a safety review. If you don’t provide it, we may limit or close your account.

4. How the marketplace works

  1. 4.1
Clients post jobs and invite freelancers. Freelancers send proposals. When a client hires a freelancer, the contract for the work is between the client and the freelancer.
  2. 4.2
Bitlance provides the platform, holds milestone payments and helps resolve disputes. We are not the employer, agent or partner of any user, and we do not perform, supervise or guarantee the work.
  3. 4.3
Clients and freelancers should agree the scope, milestones, deliverables and deadlines clearly in the contract and messages.

5. Milestone payments

  1. 5.1
All payments on Bitlance are in bitcoin over the Lightning network, counted in sats. Dollar amounts shown anywhere are estimates only. The value of bitcoin can change.
  2. 5.2
To fund a milestone, the client pays a Lightning invoice created by Bitlance. The sats are held in a Lightning wallet that Bitlance operates with Blink, a third-party wallet provider, until the milestone is released or refunded.
  3. 5.3
Bitlance holds these sats only for the contract. They are not Bitlance’s money: they are kept for the client until they are released to the freelancer or refunded, and we only move them as these terms describe.
  4. 5.4
Held sats are not a bank deposit, do not earn interest and are not insured. A failure or suspension by our wallet provider or the Lightning network could delay payments.
  5. 5.5
When the client approves the work, Bitlance sends that milestone to the freelancer’s Lightning address. To prevent payouts being redirected, the address is fixed when the client funds the milestone.
  6. 5.6
Freelancers are responsible for giving a Lightning address that they control and that works. We are not responsible for payments sent to the address a freelancer gave us.
  7. 5.7
Released payments and refunds are final. Bitcoin payments cannot be reversed.
  8. 5.8
If a contract ends before all milestones are released, Bitlance may refund the unreleased amount to the client’s Lightning address, or release it to the freelancer, depending on the work done and any dispute outcome.

6. Fees and limits

  1. 6.1
Clients pay a platform fee of 5% on top of each funded amount. The fee is shown before you pay and is not refunded once a milestone is released.
  2. 6.2
    Freelancers pay no Bitlance fee.
  3. 6.3
Your own wallet may charge Lightning network fees when you pay or receive. These are not Bitlance fees.
  4. 6.4
We may set limits on payment amounts. Currently a single invoice cannot be more than 1 bitcoin (100,000,000 sats).

7. Pay only through Bitlance

  1. 7.1
Payments for work found on Bitlance must go through Bitlance. Asking for or offering payment outside Bitlance (for example by bank transfer, PayPal, or a direct wallet payment) is not allowed.
  2. 7.2
We cannot help with, or recover, payments made outside Bitlance.

8. Lawful use and compliance

  1. 8.1
You confirm that the funds you use on Bitlance come from lawful sources, and that you are not using Bitlance for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud or any other illegal purpose.
  2. 8.2
You must not use Bitlance if you are subject to sanctions, or from a country or region where using Bitlance or Lightning payments is against the law.
  3. 8.3
Jobs and contracts must be for genuine work. Using jobs or milestones only to move money is not allowed.
  4. 8.4
To keep Bitlance safe and comply with the law, we may review activity, ask for information, hold or delay payments while we look into a problem, suspend or close accounts, and share information with authorities when the law requires it.
  5. 8.5
You are responsible for any taxes on what you pay or earn through Bitlance.

9. Disputes between users

  1. 9.1
If something goes wrong on a contract, either side can raise a dispute on Bitlance.
  2. 9.2
Bitlance admins review the contract, payment records, submitted work and messages, and decide the outcome. The outcome can decide whether held sats are released or refunded, and can affect a freelancer’s badges.
  3. 9.3
If you disagree with a decision, email admin@bitlance.work within 14 days and we will review it again.

10. Ratings, reviews and badges

  1. 10.1
Clients and freelancers can rate each other after a contract. Ratings and reviews must be honest and about the work.
  2. 10.2
Badges, where shown, are worked out from paid contracts, ratings and disputes. They help clients choose but are not a guarantee of anyone’s work or identity.

11. What is not allowed

  1. 11.1
Scams, fake jobs, fake accounts, fake reviews, or pretending to be someone else.
  2. 11.2
Work or content that is illegal, hateful, sexual, violent, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
  3. 11.3
Harassment, spam, or collecting other users’ details for purposes outside Bitlance.
  4. 11.4
Trying to access other accounts, upload harmful code, overload the service, or get around its security or limits.
  5. 11.5
Copying, scraping or reselling Bitlance or its data without our written permission.

12. Your content

  1. 12.1
You keep ownership of what you post: your profile, portfolio, jobs and messages.
  2. 12.2
You allow Bitlance to store and show it on Bitlance, for example on your public profile, in search, on share cards and in job listings, for as long as it is on Bitlance.
  3. 12.3
Only post work and material you have the right to share. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

13. Suspension and closing accounts

  1. 13.1
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why.
  2. 13.2
If an account is suspended or closed while sats are held for a contract, we will release or refund them according to the contract, the work done and any dispute outcome.
  3. 13.3
You can stop using Bitlance at any time. To close your account, use Settings or email admin@bitlance.work.

14. Errors and events outside our control

  1. 14.1
If a payment is sent to you by mistake, or more than you were owed, you must return it. We may hold or correct affected payments.
  2. 14.2
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages at our wallet or hosting providers, problems on the Lightning network, natural disasters or actions by authorities.

15. Limits on our responsibility

  1. 15.1
Bitlance is new and provided “as is”. We work to keep it running and safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
  2. 15.2
We are not responsible for the quality, legality or delivery of work, or for what users agree between themselves.
  3. 15.3
The limit. If we are responsible for a loss you suffer, our total responsibility to you is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the 12 months before the problem. This covers losses such as lost business, missed deadlines or time without the service.
  4. 15.4
What the limit does not cover. It does not apply to sats we hold for you for a contract: those remain yours, to be released or refunded as these terms describe. It also does not apply to harm we cause intentionally or recklessly, or to anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

16. Changes to these terms

  1. 16.1
We may update these terms. We will show the new version number and date at the top of this page.
  2. 16.2
For important changes we will give at least 30 days’ notice on Bitlance or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Bitlance after that means you accept the new terms.

17. Governing law, disputes with us, and contact

  1. 17.1
These terms are governed by the law of Próspera ZEDE, Roatán, Honduras, including the Roatán Common Law Code.
  2. 17.2
If you have a problem with Bitlance itself, contact us first at admin@bitlance.work. Most problems can be solved this way.
  3. 17.3
If we cannot solve it together, it will be decided under the dispute-resolution procedures of Próspera ZEDE. This section does not stop you using any rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
  4. 17.4
